The Girl Who Saved Christmas by Matt Haig: It is Christmas Eve and all is not well. Amelia Wishart’s mother is terribly sick while Amelia is stuck in Mr Creeper’s workhouse. Father Christmas knows he must find her – he sets off to try with the help of eight reindeer, some elves, Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria! The saving of Christmas begins. Although it has some sad parts this book has many funny parts that are totally “laughtastic”! I loved the humour throughout (and my dad did too!). The Girl Who Saved Christmas has lots of different characters, lots of magic and a great plot, so if you like drama and jokes, this is a perfect book for you. It was so much fun to read. I recommend this book for 7 to 10 year olds. There are also two other books about Christmas by Matt Haig, with some of the same characters.
