I really liked reading Baby Zebra Rescue as it features a strong and interesting female character and lots of animals! Zoe loves living with her family at Tanglewood Animal Park. They have moved there in time to see the baby zebra, Flash, being born! We see everything in this story through Zoe’s eyes so we really get to know how she is feeling. I liked her a lot as a character and I also enjoyed the others in the book such as her little brother Rory, the vet Max, and Zoe’s new friend Oliver. Oliver creates some problems for Zoe, but the fact that she has this difficulty to overcome gives the book an additional storyline. The book focuses mainly on the new baby zebra but we also learn about snow leopards, lemurs and other big cats. The author provides all the details about the care of the animals, the animal park itself and lots of interesting information about the creatures too. I felt that I learned a lot of new things. On top of all this there is an exciting plot. Disaster strikes when Flash goes missing. Can Zoe help rescue him in time for the grand opening of the zoo? The best thing about this book is that it is educational as well as entertaining. It even has some internet quick links in the back to explore the animals mentioned in the book! I would love to visit a place like Tanglewood Animal Park. I’ve discovered that there are two more books in the series so I am looking forward to reading the next one. I think that Baby Zebra Rescue would be perfect for any animal lover who would like to live in or help to run an animal park! It is a good read for kids aged 7 to 10.
